Yvonne C. Rainey, age 89, of Faribault, passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at the District One Hospital in Faribault. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 8, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Faribault. Interment will be at the St. Lawrence Cemetery in Faribault. Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and on Monday for one hour prior to the services at the church. Parish prayers will be held on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. Yvonne Celania DeFrees, the daughter of Francis and Agnes (Caron) DeFrees was born on March 14, 1920 in Faribault. She graduated from Faribault High School with the class of 1938. Yvonne married Otis Rainey on September 11, 1940 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Faribault. He preceded her in death on March 29, 1990. She worked as a clerk for Farmer Seed and Nursery in Faribault for 25 years. Yvonne was active at her church including the Council of Catholic Women and quilting groups. She was a member of a bridge club for over 40 years and was proud to have been an eight gallon blood donor to the American Red Cross. She is survived by four children, Lynn (Robert) Koger of Neebish Island, MI, Thomas (Sue) Rainey of Boyne City, MI, James (Shirley) Rainey of Faribault, MN, and Cathy Rainey of Somerset, WI; eight grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; two sisters, Helen (Don) Edwards of Warsaw, MN, and Catherine Hackett of Morristown; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two sisters, Marion Roberts and Margaret Robinson; and three half brothers, Norbert, Harland, and Irvin DeFrees. Memorials may be designated to Catholic Relief Services in memory of Yvonne.
