Yong Ae Van Ornum, age 66, of Waseca, died on January 29, 2009 at Immanuel St. Joseph's - Mayo Health System in Mankato following a long battle with lung disease. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 2nd at 1:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Martin Schaefer officiating. The Van Ornum Family will greet friends on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at McRaith Funeral Home in Waseca, and will continue on Monday afternoon for one hour prior to services, at church. There will be a 3:30 parish prayer service Sunday afternoon at the funeral home. Yong was born on November 7, 1942 in Korea. She was united in marriage to Clarence Van Ornum on March 29, 1968 at the American Embassy in Seoul, Korea. Yong and Clarence have lived in Waseca since 1973. Over the years Yong worked at various jobs in the Waseca County area. Most recently she had been employed with Masterpiece Studios in North Mankato. Yong enjoyed playing cards and bingo, and watching sports, especially the Minnesota Twins. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca. She is survived by her husband Clarence of Waseca, and her two daughters, Jean (Shane) Frisk of Meriden, and Jennifer Van Ornum of Minneapolis; by her two grandchildren Amanda and Corey Hanks.
