Wilmar L. Terwee, age 78, of Faribault, MN, passed away Sunday, October 8, 2017, at the District One Hospital in Faribault.
Visitation will be held locally at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home, 1725 Lyndale Ave. N., Faribault on Wednesday, October 11th from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m.
Visitation will also be held in Sioux Falls, SD at the George Boom Funeral Home, 3408 E. 10th St., Sioux Falls, on Monday, October 16th from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 17th at 10:00 a.m. at the George Boom Funeral Home. Interment will be at the Hills of Rest Cemetery in Sioux Falls, followed by a reception at the funeral home.
Wilmar Loyd was born on June 23, 1939 in Hull, Iowa to Harry and Herbedena (Kuyper) Terwee. He graduated from Washington High School in Sioux Falls, SD. After high school, Willie worked with his dad in trucking to the west coast. Willie moved to Minneapolis for employment, where he met and married Elizabeth Warnke on December 29, 1967. They moved to Grand Rapids where he attended vocational technical school. In the fall of 1969, they moved to St. Peter where he attended Mankato State University while employed at the Regional Treatment Center where he developed a lifelong interest in nursing. In September of 1973, they moved to Minneapolis where both attended vocational technical school for nursing. Willie and Betty worked in nursing at various State Hospitals until October of 1990, when he became involved in an accident that left him disabled.
Willie's interests included car repair, clock making, woodworking, and books related to his hobbies.
He is survived his wife, Elizabeth A. (Betty) Terwee of Faribault; sister, Loretta Friday of Sioux Falls, SD and her children, Kim Hove and Joe Friday; three grand nieces and two grand nephew; plus many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Herbie; two brothers, Harlan and Everett Terwee; his grandparents; and two brothers-in-law.
A special thank you to all those individuals that cared for Willie during his stay in the nursing home, and all the others that impacted his life.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
