Wilmar H. Burnett, age 93 of Janesville, died on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at the Janesville Nursing Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 31st at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Ann Catholic Church in Janesville with Fr. Peter Klein, Celebrant. Interment with military honors will be in Mankato's Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service, at Saint Ann Catholic Church in Janesville. Arrangements are being handled by Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory of Janesville. Wilmar Henry was born on January 2, 1919 in Belgrade Township, Nicollet County, Minnesota to Earl and Anna (Borchart) Burnett. He attended country school until the 8th grade and then helped on his family farm. Wilmar served in the United States Army during World War II from 1942 until his honorable discharge in 1945. For his bravery during his military duty he was awarded the Bronze Star. Wilmar married Rosemary Wolfe on November 1, 1945 and together raised three daughters. He worked at Kato Engineering, drove taxi cab, and did what he loved most; farming on the Waseca farm from 1955 to 1986. He retired in Janesville near family and friends. Wilmar loved tinkering on cars, mowing lawn, playing cards, listening to old-time music and visiting with family and friends. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather and friend. He loved talking about the early days of service, marriage, farming and family. He was a member of the Saint Ann Catholic Church in Janesville, and a life member of the V.F.W. Sweet-Sommers Post #1642 in Waseca. Wilmar knew God and his Savior, and always said he could talk to God no matter where he was or what he was doing. He is survived by his wife Rosemary and their three daughters and families; Janie (Tom) Fitzpatrick of Duluth, Judy (Mike) Ready of Janesville, Jerrie (Chuck) Wencl of Medford; grandchildren and their families; Mary (Edd) Leis, Ben and Josh of Duluth, Kelly (Jason) Hill, Jordan, Caden, Andraya and Brayde of Rosemount, Jeff (Holly) Ready, Ellie, Emma and Eva of Waterville, Chad (Janell) Ready, Blake and Kayla of Janesville, Jim (Renae) Herget, Andrew, John and Ben of Burnsville, Tammy (Dan) Pumper, Spencer of Faribault; by many nephews and nieces, cousins and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, twin brother Willard Burnett, sisters Evelyn Gerber, Doris Tungsvik, Dorothy Lindberg, and brother Delmar Burnett, as well as other extended relatives.
