William Thorson

September 1, 1946 — January 18, 2018

William "Bill" Thorson, age 71, of Medford, MN, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2018, at the St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the new location of Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory, 1725 Lyndale Ave. N., Faribault. Military honors will be provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Association.

Visitation will be held at Parker Kohl Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. and on Thursday for one hour prior to the services.

William Andrew was born on September 1, 1946 in Faribault to Albert and Mary (Whitehouse) Thorson. He graduated from Faribault High School with the class of 1965. He was married to Nancy Zabel in 1967. Bill proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserve for 20 years. He worked for the Owatonna Public Schools among other places for many years and at Viracon in Owatonna for the last 16 years until his retirement. Bill loved his tractor collection and camping. He adored his grandchildren and treasured the time with them. Bill was a member of the Medford Knights of Columbus and the Paralyzed Veterans of America.

He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Thorson of Medford; children, Tim (Karen) Thorson of Owatonna, Dan Thorson of Thompson, IA, and Kim (Evan) Schmoll of Dodge Center, MN; seven grandchildren, Nathan Thorson, Trevor Thorson, Samantha Thorson, Cody Thorson, Brandon Schmoll, Jackie Schmoll, and Eddie Thorson; nine great grandchildren; siblings, Chuck Thorson and Nita Illsley; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Mary; and three siblings.
