William “Al” McIntyre, age 82, of Faribault, MN, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 21, 2024, following an extended illness.
William Allen, the son of Alvin and Annabelle (Wolfe) McIntyre was born on June 23, 1942 in Faribault, MN. He attended Faribault High School and graduated with the class of 1960. Following high school, Al attended Mankato State University and later attended Dunwoody Institute. Al also served in the National Guard from 1965-1971. He was united in marriage to Pamela Van Thomme on November 16, 1963. They later divorced. On April 25, 1987 he married Mary Marek at St. Luke’s Church in Faribault. Al worked for over 40 years at Daiken and retired as a Senior Test End Operator. When he was a young man he enjoyed pheasant and deer hunting. Later he was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed woodworking. He was a handy man and could fix anything. Al and Mary enjoyed traveling and their winter travels to Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Costa Rica and going on a cruise. Spending time with his family was something he cherished along with his companionship from his dogs. He was a member of the Rice County Sport Fishing Association for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Mary McIntyre of Faribault, MN; by his children, David McIntyre of Faribault, MN, Ann (Scott) Lang of Waconia, MN and Jeremy (Kim) Marek of Buffalo, MN; by six grandchildren, Frances (Jake) Stocker and their children, Sullivan and Helena, Madison Lang, Trevor Lang, William McIntyre, Katherine Marek and Amelia Marek; by his brother, Charles McIntyre and by other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant baby boy (1966), by his brother and sister-in-law, P. James McIntyre (Nikki), by two nephews, Michael McIntyre and Loni McIntyre, and by his sister-in-law, Janet McIntyre.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 30, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault with Fr. Henry Doyle officiating. Interment will be held at the Maple Lawn Cemetery, Faribault with military honors provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Organization.
Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home on Monday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
