Wayne Renneke

January 16, 1926 — April 24, 2012

Wayne M. Renneke, age 86, of Faribault, passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at the Three Links Care Center in Northfield, MN.   Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the First English Lutheran Church in Faribault, with Rev. Richard L. Jorgensen, pastor, officiating. Interment will be at the Solar Lutheran Cemetery, Webster, MN, with military honors provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Association.   Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. Arrangements are with the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault.   Wayne Milton Renneke, the son of Clarence and Alma (Muenchow) Renneke, was born on January 16, 1926 in Echo, MN. He graduated from Echo High School. Wayne served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theater and was honorably discharged in 1946. He was united in marriage to Jeannette Hille on June 23, 1950 in Webster. Wayne was a skilled carpenter and built many homes in Dodge Center, MN and also in Faribault. They lived in Dodge Center before moving to Faribault in 1970. Upon retirement, Wayne and Jeannette moved to Pharr, TX. They also traveled to many parts of the country for Laborers for Christ for which Wayne was a foreman, building and remodeling churches. They also spent their summer months in Clearwater, MN. After Jeannette passed away on April 2, 1987, Wayne spent many years living in different communities and continued to do some traveling. In 2007 he moved back to Faribault and Wayne thoroughly enjoyed his time spent at his special parcel of land near Lake Mazaska in his travel trailer. He was a member of the Carpenters Union and First English Lutheran Church. His church was of great importance to him and he was a very active member.   He is survived by two daughters, Nedra (Doug) Van Dam of Faribault and Kay Muchow of Grenora, ND; seven grandchildren, Lucas Muchow, Melanie (Nick) LaCanne, Melissa (Chris) Wilson, Andrew Van Dam, Kelsey Van Dam, Karah Van Dam, and Kimberly Van Dam; four great grandchildren, Darby, Malia, Baron, and Isabella; special friend, Diane Schimanski of Faribault; sister, LaVonne (Gordy) Grannes of Shakopee; sister-in-law, Dolores Hille of Webster; and many other relatives and friends.   He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeannette; parents; son, Jon on June 12, 1985; three brothers, Milton, Myron, and Lyle Renneke; and great grandchildren, Chase and Finley LaCanne.   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Faribault Area Hospice in memory of Wayne.
