Viola Rasmussen

Viola D. Rasmussen, age 97, of Faribault, MN, passed away Friday, February 3, 2017, at the Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Faribault.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 10, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the First English Lutheran Church in Faribault, with Rev. Mark Johnson, officiating. Interment will be at the North Grove Cemetery in Cannon City Township, Rice County, MN.

Viola's family will greet family and friends at the church on Friday from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m.

Arrangements are with the Parker Kohl Funeral Home of Faribault.

Viola Dorothy was born on July 13, 1919 in Minneapolis, MN to Henry and Minnie (Westgard) Kern. She graduated from Medford High School with the class of 1938. Viola married Marvin Rasmussen on November 23, 1939 in Northwood, Iowa. For over 20 years she worked as a seamstress at the Faribault State Hospital. Viola was a member of the First English Lutheran Church and enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and baking.

She is survived by her sons, Tom (Mary) of Tuscon, AZ, Jim (Jane) of Seattle, WA, and Ron (Ellen) of Mounds View, MN; granddaughter, Kirsten of Minneapolis; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Robert; husband, Marvin; sisters, Minnie and Vera; and parents, Henry and Minnie.
