Vincent J. Kahnke, age 81 of rural Waseca, died on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at his St. Mary Township farm, surrounded by his family. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 2nd at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca with Fr. Martin Schaefer officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Waseca. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at McRaith Funeral Home in Waseca, and will continue on Saturday morning for one hour prior to services, at church. Vincent John was born on July 18, 1927 in Waseca, Minnesota to Vincent J. and Mary (Lynch) Kahnke, Sr. Vince was united in marriage to Irene Morgan on June 19, 1951 at St. Jarlath Catholic Church in Iosco Township, Waseca County. Vince and Irene resided in St. Mary Township their entire married life. Vince operated his dairy farm, raised sheep, and for over 20 years worked for Elm Homes in Waseca. He was also known as a bee keeper, and sold his honey at the farmer's market in both Janesville and Waseca. Vince was a long time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca. He is survived by his wife, Irene of rural Waseca; by his two sons Vincent Michael "Mike" (Marilyn) Kahnke and Tim (Lori) Kahnke, both of Waseca; by his daughters Colleen (Marty) Possehl of Claremont, Maureen (Thomas) Eustice of Janesville, Bridget (Kevin) Everhart of Denver, CO, and Margaret (Paul) Rea of Irvine, CA; by 18 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren; by his brother David (Evelyn) Kahnke of Waseca, and his sisters, Marge Miller and Therese (Bob) Nord, both of Waterville. He was preceded in death by his parents; by his brother Herbert Kahnke and his sisters Sister Mary Ann Kahnke, and Lucille Miller.
