Thomas R. Sass, age 78 of Waseca, died on Friday, June 12, 2009 at Homestead Hospice in Owatonna. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, June 18th at 1:00 p.m. at McRaith Funeral Home with Fr. Martin Schaefer officiating. Interment will be in the Woodville Cemetery. The Sass Family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Thursday, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to Homestead Hospice of Owatonna, or ISJ Hospice. Tom was born on July 19, 1930 to Raymond and Wilma (Kunze) Sass in Austin, Minnesota. He graduated from LeCenter High School in 1949, and went on to earn his bachelor's degree from Hamline University in 1953. Tom married Peggy Traxler at St. Mary's Catholic Church in LeCenter on June 13, 1953. They resided in Richfield until 1965 when they moved to Waseca and opened their Farm and Home Supply store. Most of Tom's career was in sales. Tom was devoted to his family and friends. He will be remembered with laughter and love. He is survived by his wife Peggy; by his sons Dan (and Elise), Kurt (and Beth), Kevin (and Julie), and his daughters Cindy (and Kurt) Lemke, and Debra (and Gary) Donahue; by his eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren; by his sister Sue (and Allen) Raney.
