Thomas E. Hunt

Thomas E. Hunt, age 72 of Faribault, MN, passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2024 at his home following an extended illness.

Thomas Eugene, the son of Donovan and Mavis (Ellsworth) Hunt, was born on April 27, 1952 in Faribault, MN. Thomas grew up in Faribault and graduated from the Faribault High School with the Class of 1970. He attended Mankato State University for two years before starting to work as a carpenter. Thomas worked for Lunda Construction and Beckman Construction before working for Global Specialty Contractors. He was a member of the Carpenters Local 1382, Minnesota Laborers Union, and the Faribault Softball Board where was a past president. While he wasn’t working, Thomas enjoyed playing rugby, softball, and cards, especially Gin Rummy and Cribbage, refereeing high school football and wrestling and adult softball, going to auctions, deer, duck, and pheasant hunting, and watching the Minnesota Vikings, Wild, Twins, Gophers, and Faribault High School sports.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Mary Hunt; siblings, Linda (Mark) Chamberlain, Catherin Beus, Jane Jandro, Pete Jandro, and Suzanne (Jeff) Johnson; siblings-in-law, Carol Kuntz, Gene (Karen) Kuntz, Tom (Becky) Kuntz, Jerry (Lue) Kuntz, Julie Fasteen, Sharene (Kevin) Hanlon, and Carmen (John) Bonde; special niece and nephews, Riann (Alec) Bonde, Egan (Ellery) Bonde, and Kipp Bonde; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Gerald Jandro; grandparents, John and Olga Hunt and Carl and Alma Ricke; mother and father-in-law, Rita and Ernie Kuntz.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, May 20, 2024 at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home with Reverend Henry Doyle officiating. There will be NO visitation prior to the service. A Celebration of Life will follow at the Faribault Golf Club from 12:00 to 3:00 P.M., where guests will have the opportunity to greet the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Faribault Football Association, Rice County Pheasants Forever, or the donor’s choice.
