Thomas James "Jim" Brennan, age 83, of Faribault, died Friday, April 11, 2014, at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN following a sudden illness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery, MN. Interment will be held at the Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery, MN.
Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday for one hour prior to services.
Jim, the son of Thomas P. and Mary Lou (Keogh) Brennan, was born on February 24, 1931 in Kilkenny, MN. Jim attended Montgomery High School and graduated with the class of 1949. Jim also took classes at the University of Minnesota for business. On September 26, 1950 he was united in marriage to Jeanne Krocak at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. Jeanne preceded Jim in death in 2004. Jim ran Brennan's Resort and Campground on Shield's Lake from 1956-1978. He also worked as a purchasing agent at GT Sheldahl in Northfield for 40 years.
Jim was a friend of Bill W. since March 22, 1960. Jim was an avid fisherman and golfer, card player and storyteller. He spent summers in Minnesota and winters in Florida.
Jim had many friends everywhere he traveled. He was especially blessed to have a true friend and companion for the past 6 years, Marion Madigan, along with her family who considered Jim one of their family.
Jim is survived by his son Randie Brennan of Faribault; daughters-in-law, Deborah Brennan of Rochester, MN and Mary Brennan of Eagan, MN; by five grandchildren, Rachel Brennan and fiancé Tim McLaughlin, Christopher Haessig, Allison (Tim) Meyer, Ashley Brennan and Sarah (Josh) Vondal; by two great grandchildren, Liam Michael Vondal and Brennan Ray Meyer and other relatives and friends.
Other extended "Family" members included David Zimprich of Rochester, MN, Dave Groh and RoxAnne Brennan of Waterville, MN who have been "Family" and helped with his care and were present as he passed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 54 years, Jeanne, his son Michael in 1991 and by a baby sister at birth.
