Tauno "Danny" A. Salin, age 94 of Faribault, MN passed away peacefully on Friday, August 31, 2018 at Milestone Senior Living in Faribault.
Private services for the family will be held and interment will be held at the Cannon City Cemetery with military honors provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Organization.
Funeral arrangements are being completed by the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault.
Tauno Anton, the son of Peter and Elina (Korpela) Salin was born on June 16, 1924 in Palo, MN. Danny served in the U.S. Army Infantry during World War II and received the Purple Heart for his service. On September 18, 1948 he was united in marriage to Ardella Nelson at the First Lutheran Church in Duluth, MN. Danny worked for many years for Standard Oil servicing gas pumps at service stations all around the Midwest. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, working in his vegetable garden, watching the Minnesota Twins and spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren. He was a member of the V.F.W. in Duluth and enjoyed visiting with his friends there. Danny and Ardella moved to Faribault in 2013 to be closer to family.
He is survived by three children, Nancy (Dennis) Burgess of Faribault, MN, Dino Salin of Linden, VA and Gerald (Debra) Salin of Indianapolis, IN; by seven grandchildren, Jennifer Miller, Jessica Medvedev, Mallory McCoy, Amy America, Matthew Salin, Heather Salin and Tamara Eisentrager; by 13 great grandchildren and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two daughters, Bonnie Eisentrager and Salin Rose, three sisters, Bertha Johnson, Elma Johnson and Irene Ellison and by three brothers, Uno, Willio and Ernest Salin.
