Sylvia Ann (Gregor) Mulcahey, age 86, of Janesville, died peacefully on Friday, August 29, 2014 at the Laurels Peak Rehabilitation Center in Mankato following an extended illness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 1, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Ann Catholic Church in Janesville, with Father Michael Cronin officiating. Interment will be held at the St. Ann Cemetery in Janesville.
Visitation will be held at the Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory on Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and for one hour prior to services at the church on Monday morning. The rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Sylvia Ann, the daughter of Harry and Evelyn (Frodl) Gregor, was born on June 6, 1928 in Waterville. She attended country school near her home and later went to Waterville High School where she graduated with the class of 1946. Sylvia then began working at the Waterville Bank for a short time and on November 24, 1954, was united in marriage to Bert Mulcahey at the St. Canice Catholic Church in Kilkenny. They lived and farmed their entire married life on the Mulcahey family farm in Janesville Township where she enjoyed raising her children and being a homemaker. Bert and Sylvia loved to travel throughout the United States and Ireland, and square dancing. She enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens, sewing, and being with her family and friends. She was also a devout member of St. Ann Catholic Church where she enjoyed being active in the Rosary Society and the CCW. Most of all, Sylvia was a wonderful wife and mother and treasured time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Bert of Janesville; her children, Theresa (Jeff) Danberry of Janesville, and Tom Mulcahey of Fort Walton Beach, FL; her grandchildren, Jackie (Chris) Simonson and children, Dakodah and Chay of Mankato, Shawn (Brandis) Danberry and children, Cooper and soon to be baby boy of Janesville, Ashley Mulcahey of Fort Walton Beach, FL, and Jim Mulcahey and children, Jim and Brayden currently stationed in the Air Force; her brother, Arland "Arlie" (Carol) Gregor of Minnesota Lake; her sisters-in-law, Lucille Gregor of Waseca, Joan "Jody" Gregor of Waterville, Marie Maxwell of Rochester, Pat Mulcahey of St. Clair Shores, MI, Lillian Mulcahey of Waseca, Gen Mulchaey of Janesville, and Sister Germaine Mulcahey of Farmington; and by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Bernard and Charles Gregor' her sister, Bernice Groh; her brothers-in-law, Francis Groh, Evert Maxwell, Jerry Mulcahey, James Mulcahey, Robert Mulcahey, and Jerry Miller; and by her sister-in-law, Peggy (Miller) Lynch.
