Susan Swingen

Susan L. Swingen, age 56, of Kingman, Arizona and formerly of Warsaw, died Thursday, July 23, 2009 at the Kingman Regional Medical Center in Kingman, Arizona, following a brief illness.    Memorial Services were held at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Kingman.    Private graveside services will be held at the Maple Lawn Cemetery in Faribault.    Arrangements are being completed by the Parker Kohl Funeral Home of Faribault.    Susan Louise Venaro, the daughter of Richard & Betty (Gustafson) Venaro, was born on January 29, 1953 in Faribault. She attended the Faribault Public School and later attended the Waseca Agricultural School in Waseca, Minnesota. She was united in marriage to Dennis C. Swingen on July 10, 1969 in Forest City, Iowa.  He later preceded her in death in 1983. The last twenty five years were shared with her best friend and companion Keith Nelson. Together they operated their farm the Rolling Green Acres which was a small farm that specialized in purebred Normande beef cattle. With their involvement in the North American Normande Association, Sue and Keith were provided with many opportunities to travel to Belgium, France, and Columbia, South America. Sue was previously employed at Farmer Seed Nursery, Kay's Floral, the Minnesota State Academy for the Blind and at Ahlman's Gun Shop. She was a fantastic cook and enjoyed preparing meals for family and friends. Sue was particularly proud of her grandsons Derek Swingen and Logan Rosch and also enjoyed taking care of and spending time with her dog Tiny. In the fall of 2006, Sue decided to move to Arizona to be closer to her daughter.     She is survived by her children Troy Swingen of Faribault and Wanda (Stan) Rosch of Golden Valley, Arizona; by two grandchildren Derek Swingen and Logan Rosch; by her mother Betty Venaro of Faribault; by sisters Carmen (Wayne) Horejsi, Julie (Brian) Starkson, and Cindy (Glenn) Cunningham, all of Faribault; by mother in law Arlys Swingen of Forest City, Iowa; by brothers in law Mark (Valerie) Swingen of Faribault and Rodney Swingen of Minneapolis; by her best friend and companion Keith Nelson of Kingman, Arizona, and by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.    She was preceded in death by her grandparents, her husband Dennis, by her father Richard Venaro, and by her father in law Russell Swingen.
