Shirley A. Seys, age 79 of Mankato, died on Friday, October 15, 2010 at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Mayo Health System in Mankato. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 19th at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Clair with Fr. Robert Schneider, Celebrant. Interment will be in the Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Clair, and will continue on Tuesday morning for one hour prior to services. Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home and Crematory is handling arrangements. Shirley Ann was born on August 23, 1931 in Brewster, Minnesota to Fred and Myrtle (Wakeman) Wey. Shirley attended Brewster High School. Over the years Shirley lived in various communities in Southern Minnesota including, Dodge Center, Owatonna, Lake Crystal, and Mankato. In addition to being a homemaker Shirley was employed as a nursing attendant for various nursing homes during her time in Owatonna. She was united in marriage to George Seys on April 6, 1991 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Janesville. Prior to her retirement, Shirley had worked at Sheri Candies in Mankato. Shirley was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Clair, where she volunteered her time at many church functions. She was also a member of the Owatonna Eagles Auxiliary Aeries #1791. Shirley enjoyed garage sales, flower gardening, watching soap operas, baking bread, and time spent with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband George of Mankato; by her sons James Peterson of Mound, and Michael Peterson of Coon Rapids; by her daughters Ginny Reule of Eagan, Cindi Gowen of Eagan, and Lori (Kevin) Franklin of Butternut; by 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; by her brother Dale (Carolyn) Wey of Lake Mills, WI, and her sister Phyllis Wolff of Worthington. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her great grandson Coltin Franklin, and her brother Wesley Wey.
