Sharon L. Heimerl, age 58, of East Bethel, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at the J.A. Wedum Hospice Home in Minneapolis following a thirteen year battle with cancer.
Sharon Lynn, the daughter of Howard Cutler and M. Lois Sherman was born on August 12, 1954 in Camden, New Jersey. She was a 60's free spirit and rebel as well as an incredible woman of strength. Ten years after surviving the initial cancer, this remarkable spirit kept stage IV cancer from taking her for 3 more years and 4 months. Her mission: to leave her only son a better legacy and to help others benefit from her life experiences. She was a true inspiration to many on cancer support sites. Believing can make it so.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Howard T. Cutler and M. Lois Sherman. She is survived by her loving and exceptionally gifted son, Charlie Heimerl stationed in the Marine Corps in Quantico, VA, and birth-daughter Shelli (Matt) Frana and grandchildren of Faribault, MN, who she was blessed to find five short years ago. She is also survived by her sister D , her rock, Debbie Cutler, of Oak Ridge, TN, and brother Bruce Cutler, of Columbia, SC, her arch rival in chess and other strategy games growing up.
She considered herself specially blessed to have in her life in recent years saint Dodie Havens and her daughters Jessie and Kayla. She will be sorely missed by her faithful dog Harley and newer kitty Miss Marley.
By request, no formal services will be held. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Sharon to the Virginia Piper Cancer Center in Minneapolis, MN, where she received tremendous support and never-ending compassion from everyone on her team.
