Sanford "Sandy" Pitan

Sanford “Sandy” Allen Pitan, age 59, of Lakeville, MN, and formerly of Faribault, MN, passed away unexpectedly on January 13, 2025. 

Sanford Allen, the son of Maynard and Idamae (Karels) Pitan was born on October 27, 1965, in Faribault. He graduated from Faribault High School with the class of 1984 and Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, in 1988. Sandy worked as a financial analyst at MoneyGram for over 25 years. Sandy was a devoted family man who cherished spending time with his loved ones. He was passionate about running marathons, being outdoors, riding dirt bikes and motorcycles, playing volleyball, swimming, and listening to music. A man of faith, Sandy regularly praised the Lord at Grace Fellowship church.

Sandy is survived by his beloved daughter, Alexa Pitan and ex-wife Nancy Pike of Brooklyn Park, MN. He also leaves behind his devoted parents, Maynard and Ida Pitan of Faribault, MN. Sandy was a cherished brother to his sister, Penny (and Joe) Pitan Hora of Acton, MA, his brother, Randy (and Laura) Pitan of Savage, MN, and his sister, Joleen (and Michael) Conrad of Otsego, MN; also survived by his sister-in-law, Diane Pitan, and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Cary Pitan.

Sandy’s warm spirit and love for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A service celebrating Sandy's life will be held with a portion dedicated for family and friends to share memories and words of remembrance. 

The Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 12:30 p.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home, 1725 Lyndale Ave. N., Faribault, followed by a meal. Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 12:30 p.m.
