Sandra K. "Sandy" McDonough

Sandra K. “Sandy” McDonough, age 83 of Faribault, MN passed away on Friday, December 8, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family, following an extended illness.

Sandra Kay, the daughter of Arthur and Marie (Cottet) Teske was born on February 14, 1940 in Faribault.  She attended Faribault High School.  Growing up Sandy operated their family business, Sandy’s Grill, and that is where she would meet her future husband who worked at the gas station next door.  On December 1, 1962 she was united in marriage to Thomas G. McDonough at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Faribault.  Tom preceded her in death on August 26, 2019.  Sandy was co-founder of Met-Con Construction with her husband Tom.  Today the business is known as Met-Con Companies as it has grown and expanded into all phases of construction work.  Sandy loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She also enjoyed traveling, spending time with family and friends at their cabin on Wells Lake and trips to Mystic Lake Casino and Las Vegas.

She is survived by her children, Randy (Lisa) McDonough of Faribault and their children, Macy (Kyle) Murphy, Marla (Christian) VonRuden and Mason McDonough, Tami (Darren) Steeves of Faribault and their children, Matt (Casie) Steeves (Caden, Chloe and Kenzie), Ashley (Adam) Suckow (Wyatt, Connor and Easton), Lindsey Steeves, Zach (Kaity) Steeves (Kennedy, Cameron and Jack), Courtney Steeves and Nick Steeves, Scott (Sue) McDonough of Faribault and their children, Maria, Kathryn and Lauren McDonough; by five siblings, Art (Shirley) Teske, Carol (Dave) Kelly, Pam Heine, Bob (Julie) Teske and Debbie (Ron) Schema all of Faribault; by brother-in-laws, Richard McDonough and Michael “Mick” (Sharon) McDonough, both of Faribault; by sister-in-laws, Jean Montgomery of Bloomington, MN and Charlotte Teske of Faribault and by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her infant sister Jacqueline Teske and by her brother, Ronald Teske.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive in Faribault.  Interment will be held at the Maple Lawn Cemetery, Faribault.

Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday for one hour prior to services.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers that memorials be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice in memory of Sandy.
