Rodney Rollins

Rodney H. Rollins, age 83 of Waldorf, died on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at the Mapleton Community Home.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 23rd at 2:00 P.M. at Medo Evangelical Lutheran Church in rural Mapleton with Pastor Laurie Stoeger, officiating. Interment will be in the Alma City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 to 8 P.M. at Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory in Janesville, and will continue Thursday afternoon for one hour prior to services, at church.

Rodney Henry was born on June 16, 1929 to Lee and Irene (Nissen) Rollins in Freedom Township, Waseca County, Minnesota. He was baptized on May 9, 1948 at the Pemberton Congregational Church by the Rev. Frank Harcy. Rodney was confirmed as an adult by the Rev. Lowell Smested on March 29, 1953 at the Medo Evangelical Lutheran Church. He graduated from Pemberton High School in 1947. On October 26, 1950 he was united in marriage to Arlene P. Tiede at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Alma City, Minnesota. Rodney and Arlene farmed and raised their family in rural Pemberton. He was a lifelong farmer and was proud of his family and community. Rodney was a longtime member of the Medo Evangelical Lutheran Church and served on the church council. He was also active on the board of directors for the Pemberton Farmers Lumber Co., and volunteered on the Pemberton Fire Department. In 1990 Rodney and Arlene retired and moved to Waldorf. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and having morning coffee with his friends. Rodney loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Arlene of Waldorf; sons, Dennis Rollins of Chaska and Gregg (Jeannie) Rollins of Pemberton; daughters, Marcia (Darv) Habben of Albert Lea and Lisa (William) Fralick of High Springs, FL; 11 grandchildren, Mark (Emma) Habben of Albert Lea, Ross (Tiffany) Habben of Houston, TX, Beth (Chad) Barclay of Albert Lea, Andrew Rollins and Alex Rollins both of St. Paul, Grant (Jes) Rollins of Pemberton, Jay (Laura) Rollins of Mapleton, Jill Rollins of Minneapolis, Tyler Fralick, Jared Fralick and Blake Fralick all of High Springs, FL; 4 great grandsons, Payne and Payton Doyle of Albert Lea and Henry and Eli Rollins of Mapleton; brother-in-law, Robert (Shirley) Tiede of Pemberton; sister-in-law, Marian Rollins of Mapleton; by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert (Gladys) Rollins, Leroy Rollins and Ronald Rollins in infancy; sister, Betty (Bob) Harriman; nephew, Ronnie Rollins; nieces, Sharon (Rollins) Adams and Barbara (Rollins) Venable; father-in law and mother-in-law, Harold and Emma Tiede.

Casket bearers are Rodney's grandsons; Mark Habben, Ross Habben, Andrew Rollins, Alex Rollins, Grant Rollins, Jay Rollins, Tyler Fralick, Jared Fralick and Blake Fralick.

Honorary bearers are Rodney's granddaughters; Beth Doyle-Barclay and Jill Rollins.
