Robert Sammon

Robert (Bob) E. Sammon, age 80, of Valrico, FL and formerly of Faribault, MN, Burnsville, MN, and Pelican Rapids, MN, died from complications of Multiple System Atrophy on Friday, February 19, 2010 at his home.             Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Faribault.             Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and on Thursday for one hour prior to the services.             Robert Emmett Sammon, the son of Emmett and Jesse (Harsh) Sammon, was born on May 5, 1929 in Faribault, MN. He attended District 93 Country School, St. Lawrence School and graduated from Faribault High School. Bob served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953. He served active duty in Korea during the Korean War from 1952-1953.   He then married Betty Pemrick on November 28, 1953 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Faribault. He worked for 2 years with Falcon Ford in Faribault before his employment with H.J. Heinz Co., where he worked for 30 years, retiring as Area Sales Manager. Bob loved being with his grandchildren, fishing, singing, dancing, entertaining family and friends, and spending time at their cabins in northern Minnesota. They wintered in Florida until moving there permanently in July of 2000.             He is survived by his wife, Betty of Valrico, FL; three children, Scott (Leslie) Sammon of Oregon, WI, Jay (Julie) Sammon of Odessa, MN, and Jill (Peder) Larson of Edina, MN; five grandchildren, Riley (Julia), Emily, and Evan Sammon, and Calvin and Robbie Larson; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.             He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Muriel (Floyd) Koberstein in 1982; and father and mother-in-law, Peter and Blanche Pemrick.             Memorials may be designated to the SDS/MSA Support Group, P.O. Box 279, Coupland, TX 78615 or the donor's choice in memory of Bob.
