Robert "Bob" Orrie, age 77, of Waseca, died peacefully on Monday, February 17, 2014, at the Colony Court Memory Care and Care Suites in Waseca following an extended illness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 21, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Waseca, with Father Gregory Leif, officiating. Private family interment will be held at the Calvary Cemetery in Waseca at a later date.
Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Arrangements are being completed by the McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory of Waseca.
Robert William Orrie Jr., the first born son of Robert W. Sr. and Pearl (Ladeen) Orrie, was born on March 2, 1936 in Minneapolis. He attended Holy Rosary Catholic High School and later enlisted in the U.S. Army. While in the service, Bob continued his education and traveled to various locations prior to his honorable discharge. On October 21, 1972, he was united in marriage to Margaret Rees-Jones in Dereham, Norfolk, England. They later moved to Minnesota and eventually settled in Waseca where Bob accepted a job at Fitzsimmon's Trucking. Bob continued to work there as a dispatcher for many years along with dedicating over 24 years of service to the Waseca Police Reserves.
Bob was a very well-known person that would be willing to help in any way he could. He committed himself to many community service tasks to help make Waseca a better place to live. Bob loved collecting stamps, his vast collection of cars over the years and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Orrie of Waseca; his children, Rachel (Jason) Barnett of Maple Grove, Mairaid (Wayne) Breitbarth of Waseca, and Dominic (special friend, Sarah Rollins) of St. Peter; his three grandchildren, Hope Stubbles, Ladyn Orrie, and Quinn Barnett; his mother, Pearl Orrie of Coon Rapids; his siblings, Joe (June) Orrie of Waterville, Michelle (Curt) Enerson of Clear Lake, MN, Kathy (Mike) Itzen of Brooklyn Center, Judy Marsh of Alaska and Gerry Orrie of Florida; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert W. Orrie Sr. and by his sister, Rosemarie Lohr.
