Robert "Bob" Koch

Robert L. “Bob” Koch, age 70 of Faribault, MN passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at the Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, MN following a sudden illness.

Robert LeRoy, the son of LeRoy and Darlene (Hall) Koch was born on January 12, 1953, in Salina, KS.  He attended Austin High School and graduated with the class of 1971.  Following high school Bob attended Austin Junior College.  On March 30, 1974, he was united in marriage to Gail Boevers at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Faribault.  Bob worked for a short time with Thorp Financial and then began a 40-year career with Josten’s in Owatonna in the Accounts Receivable, Finance Department.  Bob was an active member of the Steele County Astronomy Association and enjoyed everything astronomy.  He also enjoyed golfing, bowling, camping, coin collecting, swimming in the backyard pool and most of all spending time with his family. 

He is survived by his wife, Gail Koch of Faribault, MN; by his children, Robert “Bobby” Koch of Faribault, MN, Jamie (Zach) Velishek of Faribault, MN and Patrick (Bri) Koch of Chanhassen, MN; by nine grandchildren, Blake (Nicole) O’Neil, Kyle O’Neil and special friend Ashley, Lauren O’Neil, Paige Koch, Grant Koch, Talor Velishek, Beau Velishek, Graham Koch and Hayden Koch; by great grandchild, Brody O’Neil and another one the way; by his mother, Darlene Koch; by his brother, Stephen (Annette) Koch of Faribault; by his mother-in-law, Marian Boevers of Faribault, MN; by brothers and sisters-in-law, Dave (Sue) Boevers of Faribault, MN, Tom (Lisa) Boevers of Faribault, MN, Jeff (Carol-Jean) Boevers of Iowa, Kathy (Cary) Anderson of Faribault, MN and by many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, LeRoy Koch, by his little sister, Julie Koch, by his brother, Bruce Koch, by his grandmother, Mamie Kintz and by his father-in-law, Fred Boevers.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Faribault with Fr. Clayton Forner officiating.  Interment will be held at the Meadow Ridge Memorial Park, Faribault.

Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday for one hour prior to services.
