Robert C. Hendricks, age 73 of Janesville, died on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at his home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 11th at 11:00 a.m. at Janesville United Methodist Church with Rev. Bescye P. Burnett officiating. Interment will be in Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery in Watertown, Minnesota. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home in Janesville, and will continue on Wednesday morning for one hour prior to services at church. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to Hospice, Janesville United Methodist Church, or the Janesville Rotary Club. Robert Clarence Hendricks was born in Watertown, MN on December 18, 1938. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Watertown. He was very active in sports and music in the area. He graduated from Watertown High School in 1956. He attended Gustavus and graduated with a BS from St. Cloud State College in 1962. He married Linda Erickson on June 29, 1963, and moved to Janesville. He earned his Master's Degree from Mankato State University. He coached and taught school in Janesville. He was a vocational adjustment coordinator for 6 high schools in the area. In 1972 he became the Placement and Alumni Director and taught business classes at the University of Minnesota, Waseca until the college closed in 1992. He sold real estate in Waseca and Janesville, was a District and Regional Manager for Keltgen Seed Co., sold cars at Countryside Motors in Waseca, worked for the State Health Department and Federated Insurance Co. Bob was extremely active in the Janesville United Methodist Church, Janesville Rotary, and hosted many international students and adults through Rotary and Friendship Force. He was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow award in Rotary. He served on the Waseca Hospital Board for several years in many capacities, Waseca Hospice, along with other committees such as the Waseca County Day Activity Center, Waseca County Civic Music Association, the Hillside Development Corporation, the Janesville Development Corporation, the Janesville Planning Commission, the Janesville Recycling Center, and the Janesville Star City Committee. He was also a past president of the Waseca County Sheriff's Snow Patrol. Bob was well known for his great voice. He was the Master of Ceremonies for Dairy Princess Contests and Miss Janesville pageants, and was the Janesville High School football announcer for 37 years. He sang solos at weddings, funerals and other events and sang in Waseca Chorale and Celebration Singers. Aside from watching sporting events, Bob's passion was playing cards and collecting antique cars, and he had many throughout the years. Soon after he got Parkinson's disease, many of the fun things ended for Bob. His card shark days and voice were lost. He is survived by his wife, Linda of Janesville, daughter Kristin Marie Bartelt of Janesville, son Kirk Robert (Julie) Hendricks of Jordan; by his 4 grandchildren Breanna Marie and Brittany Kay Bartelt, and Kyle Robert and Meghan Beth Hendricks; by is sisters-in-law Lois Hendricks of New Prague, Judy Hendricks of Belle Plaine, Susan Erickson (George Lindeman) of Bellingham, WA, and Peggy Erickson of Coon Rapids; by many nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Ralph, Ray, and Roy, his son-in-law Paul Bartelt, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law Gilbert and Mildred Erickson.
