Robert E. Greene, age 80, of Faribault, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at the Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, Faribault, with Fr. Erik Lundgren, officiating. Interment will be at the Maple Lawn Cemetery in Faribault with military honors provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Association.
Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory in Faribault on Friday from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. at the church.
Robert Eugene was born on November 23, 1932 in Faribault, MN to Francis (Cy) and Margaret (Pofahl) Greene. He graduated from Bethlehem Academy with the class of 1950. Bob served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War from Feb. 1951 - Feb. 1955. He was married to Marion Lattin on June 4, 1965.
Bob was a bricklayer/stone mason by trade and built many beautiful fireplaces in this area. He was president of the Bricklayers Union for about 15 years. He was injured and went back to school, graduating from Albert Lea Technical College in 1979. Bob then worked for FedEx for several years and finished his work career at Faribault Transportation (1994-2011) retiring after many years of service.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, and spending time with his family at a cabin near Brainerd. He was a member of the American Legion Post 43, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1562, Faribault Moose Lodge No. 2098, and Faribault Aerie 1460 Fraternal Order of Eagles.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marion Greene of Faribault; two sons, Michael Greene and Thomas Greene, both of Minneapolis; three daughters, Tracey Greene and Reneé (Jon) Perron, both of Faribault and Cheryl Greene of Prescott, WI; eight grandchildren, Steven Greene, Jeremy (Anna) Amundson, Carrie Amundson (Dave Jenkins), Christopher Pautzke (Melissa Rebollo), Nicholas (Grace) Perron, Jessica Perron (Aron Strouth),Trent Malluege, and Jake Greene; 10 great grandchildren; brother, Thomas (Janice) Greene of Stillwater, MN; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steven; and brothers, James and William Greene.
