Rita A. Stelter, age 88 of Faribault, MN passed away unexpectedly at her home on Saturday, October 12, 2024.
Rita Ann, the daughter of George and Florence (Minton) Walkowiak was born on August 23, 1936 in Faribault. She attended Bethlehem Academy High School and graduated with the class of 1954. On September 9, 1961 she was united in marriage to Gordon Stelter in Faribault. Rita was a home maker and stayed at home to raise their family. She enjoyed traveling, flowers, playing cards and fishing. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of the Divine Mercy Catholic Church CCW.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Gordon Stelter of Faribault, MN; by her sons, Thomas (Ginny) Stelter of Hinckley, MN and their children, Joshua and fiancé Kelly McFarland, and Carlee, and Bruce Stelter (Penne Swenson) of Burnsville, MN; by her sister-in-law, Mable Walkowiak of Burnsville, MN and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Mark Stelter, three brothers, Joe (Dorothy),
Bill (Eloise) and John Walkowiak, sister and brother-in-law, Mary (Gordon) Bokman.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Faribault with Fr. Hjalmar Gudjonsson officiating. Interment will be held at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN.
Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers that memorials be directed to Bethlehem Academy High School in memory of Rita.
Arrangements are being completed by the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault.
