Rick Pohl

Rick T. Pohl, age 63, of Faribault, MN, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 23, 2020.

Ricky Thomas was born on October 22, 1957 in Freeport, IL to Richard and Marlene (Paquette) Pohl.  He graduated from Bethlehem Academy High School with the class of 1976. He joined the Army National Guard with his friend Boone for 1 enlistment. Following the guard, Rick attended Minneapolis Vo-Tech to be an electrician, but soon after started his lengthy career in electrical sales. Rick had a laughter and sense of humor that filled any room. He was a giving man that would give you the shirt off his back. He enjoyed yearly hunting.  He cherished spending time with his friends and family at their family cabin in Nisswa. He loved being on the water, he always joked he was born with webbed feet. He made work fun and taught his daughters to make hay when the sun shined. Most treasured times were family vacations, especially to Disney World. He was a kid at heart! Rick was a family man; it was his greatest joy in life. And becoming a Grandpa was an added layer of joy and pride. He was lovingly known as “The Worlds Greatest Grandpa” and he truly was. His love, laughter, and vibrant personality will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry; three daughters, Natalie (Ryan) Carlson, Alexandra Pohl, and Breanna Pohl; six grandchildren, Havana, Gemma, Henrik, Eton, Coco, and Armani Ricky, plus another one expected; his sister, Renee´ Thompson; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Marlene Pohl.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 3, 2020 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home, 1725 Lyndale Ave. N., Faribault.  The family wishes that all attending please follow guidelines for social distancing for the protection of all.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 4, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Patrick in Shieldsville, 7525 Dodd Road, Faribault, with Fr. Thomas Niehaus, officiating.  Military honors will follow and be provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Association.  All attending are required to follow guidelines for social distancing and wear masks for the protection of all.  Everyone is strongly encouraged to attend via the livestream of the funeral through a link on Rick’s obituary page.

Interment will be held at the St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Shieldsville at a later date.
