Richard Schultz

Richard H. Schultz, age 97, of Faribault, died on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at the St. Lucas Care Center in Faribault, surrounded by his family.             Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Faribault with the Rev. Kevin Finnegan, pastor officiating. Interment will be held at the Calvary Cemetery, Faribault.             Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m.             Arrangements are being completed by the Parker Kohl Funeral Home, Faribault.             Richard Herman Schultz, the son of Gustav and Bertha (Schwichtenberg) Schultz, was born on February 15, 1913 at his family's farm in Wells Township, Rice County. On December 28, 1938 he was united in marriage to Nellie Dwyer at the Immaculate Conception Church Parish House. Richard farmed for over 40 years in Walcott Township. He also built barns and did various odd jobs for people. Richard served on the country school board in Walcott Township. In 1972 Richard and Nellie moved to Faribault. He enjoyed playing cards, bowling, watching baseball and together they spent many years fishing in Remer, MN.             He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Nellie Schultz of Faribault; by two daughters, Diane (Elton) Schendel of Faribault and Karen (Gary) Zehnder of Burnsville, MN; by four grandchildren and their spouses and eight great grandchildren; by his sister Ruth Trench of Faribault and other relatives and friends.             He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Paul, Martin and Edwin Schultz and by three sisters, Lydia Mager, Freda Hanson and Erna Mills.
