Richard W. Palm, age 80 of Waseca, died on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at the New Richland Care Center. The Palm Family will greet friends during a memorial gathering held on Friday, July 15th from 4 to 8 p.m. at McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory in Waseca. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers. Private family services are planned. Richard William was born on July 13, 1930 in Waseca, Minnesota to Art and Alveda (Johnson) Palm. He was a graduate of Waseca Central High School. He served his country as soldier in the United States Army during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge he was united in marriage to Marjorie Mae Hunt in Columbus, Georgia. Dick and Marjorie raised their family and resided in Waseca their entire married life. Dick spent his entire career with Birds Eye Foods in Waseca, retiring as shift superintendent. He was a life member of the Waseca V.F.W. Sweet-Sommers Post #1642. He is survived by his sons Michael (Nancy) Palm of Waseca, Steven Palm of Waseca, and Gary Palm of New Richland; by his grandsons, Andrew, Nathan, and Tyson; by his sisters Hazel Bethke and Jean Ferry, of Waseca; by his sisters-in-law JoAnn Palm of Waseca, Lalene Wasburn of Boiling Springs, NC, and Mattie (Jack) Welmon of Shelby, NC; by many other relative and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marjorie on August 12, 2008, and his son James at infancy; by his brother Kenneth Palm, and brothers-in-law Wallace Bethke, Gerald Ferry, and John Washburn. Honorary bearers are Dick's three grandsons, Andrew, Nathan, and Tyson.
