Richard Helgeson

Richard Helgeson, age 74 of Faribault, passed away, Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at his home following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 23, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the First English Lutheran Church in Faribault, with Pastor Joy K. Bussert, officiating. Interment will be held at the Meadow Ridge Memorial Park in Faribault.

Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday for one hour prior to services. The Faribault Aerie 1460 Fraternal Order of Eagles will conduct a memorial service at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Richard Allen, the son of Harry and Mary Jane (Peterson) Helgeson, was born on September 14, 1940 in Holden Township, Goodhue County, MN. He attended school in Kenyon and Faribault. Richard began his working career at Dough Boy and later became Jerome Foods. He worked for several years at Land O Lakes and retired from Faribault Foods. Richard also did some over the road truck driving and had drove cab and ambulance for Herb Stam. On January 6, 1979 he was united in marriage to Roslyn Aaser at St. John's Lutheran Church in Northfield, MN. Richard enjoyed working and always kept himself very busy. He also enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing cards with his friends and took great pride in his 1963 purple Catalina convertible. He was a member of the Faribault Aerie 1460 Fraternal Order of Eagles and also was a Past President.

He is survived by his wife, Roslyn Helgeson of Faribault; by five children, Richard Helgeson Jr. of Duluth, MN, Kenneth Helgeson of St. Cloud, MN, Lori (Steve) Thompson of California, Kelly Nelson of Lake Superior, MN and Mary Ann (Mitchell) Echeverri of Arizona; by 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; by his brother, Roland Helgeson of Faribault; by three sisters-in-law, Marian Helgeson of Faribault and Deloris Helgeson and Kay Helgeson, both of California and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Jim, Darwin and Howard Helgeson, two sisters, Charlotte Ronning and LaDonna Berge, brother-in-law, Wayne Berge and sister-in-law, Pat Helgeson.
