Phyllis Y. Heine, age 75, of Faribault, died peacefully on Friday, December 12, 2008 at home surrounded by her family, following a brave battle with cancer. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church at Sacred Heart in Faribault, with Fr. Michael Kaluza, associate pastor, officiating. Spring interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Faribault. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Arrangements are with the Parker Kohl Funeral Home of Faribault. Phyllis Yvonne Gustafson, the daughter of Jacob and Anna (Pumper) Gustafson, was born on December 28, 1932 in Faribault. She graduated from Faribault High School. Phyllis was married to James P. Heine on July 17, 1951 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Faribault. He preceded her in death on May 20, 2007. Phyllis was a homemaker for much of her married life. She enjoyed her garden of flowers and vegetables, and baking and canning for family and friends. Phyllis also enjoyed reading and keeping a daily journal, and spending time with her family. She is survived by five children, Deborah and James Roell, Sandra and William Daniels, James and Sharon Heine, Patricia and Kevin Thomas, and Joyce and Todd Trump; 11 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; sister, Judy and Lenny Mahoney; four brothers, Harold and Lou Gustafson, Bernard and significant other, Mary McClintic, Robert and Marlene Gustafson, and George Gustafson; two brothers-in-law, John R. Heine and A. Thomas Heine; two sisters-in-law, Peggy Cochran and Rosalie McCarthy; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; parents; sisters, Anna Mae and Delores; Parents-in-law, Al and Muriel Heine; and sister-in-law, Mary Heine.
