Peter G. Reuvers Sr., age 85, of Faribault, died on Monday, March 22, 2010 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Minneapolis. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Faribault. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Faribault with military honors provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Association. Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday for one hour prior to the services at the church. Peter George Reuvers Sr., son of William and Alberta (Loeffen) Reuvers, was born on June 21, 1924 in Rice County. He attended country school and Immaculate Conception School in Faribault. Mr. Reuvers worked on his family's farm before serving with the US Marine Corps during WWII. He was united in marriage to Lucille Van Houdt in 1950 at The Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Faribault. She preceded him in death on May 29, 1973. He farmed for 29 years in Rice County, mostly in Cannon City Township. During that time, he served on the Cannon City Country School Board and was a former President of the Cannon City Creamery. Peter was active in 4H, serving as a leader for many years. He was a member of the Faribault Council 889 Knights of Columbus for 36 years, Catholic Aid for 53 years, Faribault Aerie 1460, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and is a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1562, the American Legion Post 43 and the Marine Corps League. He was a lifelong resident of the Faribault area. Peter is survived by 12 children, Marge Boyd of Waterville, Marlys (and Charlie) House of Eagle, Alaska, Mike (and Donna) Reuvers of Faribault, Marlin (and Zella) Reuvers of Tennessee, Mary Reuvers-Akonu of Lakeville, Michele (and Alan) Ernste of Faribault, Myron Reuvers of Faribault, Marilyn (and John) Lloyd of Flagstaff, AZ, Marvin Reuvers of Faribault, Peter Jr. (and Cindy) Reuvers of Burnsville, Patty Reuvers of Burnsville and Tony (and Sue) Reuvers of Faribault; by 24 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one sister Mary Sartor of Nerstrand; sisters-in-law Harriet Reuvers of Faribault and Geraldine Reuvers of Northfield; and by many other relatives and friends. Peter was also preceded in death by his parents; by a daughter Melinda in 1988; by a granddaughter, Angel Alison in 2006; by a great granddaughter Kayleigh Grace in 2008; by three brothers Tony, Ted and William; by two sisters, Minnie Bultman and Nora Irwin; one son-in-law Michael Boyd; one sister-in-law Marie Reuvers; and three brothers-in-law Wilfred Sartor, Gerald Bultman and Gene Irwin.
