Peter W. Bossmann, age 94, of Faribault, MN, passed away April 4, 2016, at Milestone Senior Living in Faribault following an extended illness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, Faribault. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Faribault.
Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault on Friday from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday for one hour prior to the services at the church. The rosary will be recited at 3:45 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Peter William was born on December 16, 1921 in Lobith, Holland to William and Helen (Gertsen) Bossmann. He was raised in Alberta, Canada and served in the Royal Canadian Army during WWII from 1941 - 1945. Pete received the France German Star, Defense of Britain Medal, and Canadian Volunteer Service medal and clasp. He was united in marriage to Marion Noy on June 9, 1949 in Rosebud, Alberta, Canada. Following their marriage, they moved to the Faribault area, and farmed for several years. He volunteered with the Rice County Sheriff Posse, and then worked as a deputy with the Rice County Sheriff Department for 17 years, retiring as Chief Deputy. In retirement he enjoyed painting, carving, and traveling with Marion, wintering in Yuma, AZ for many years. Marion preceded him in death on October 18, 2011.
He is survived by 10 children, Laura (Harlan) Smid of Montrose, CO, Dianne (Jim) Brown of Eyota, MN, Daniel (Sheila) Bossmann of Faribault, David (Judy) Bossmann of Faribault, Rosanne (Gordy) Adamek of Morristown, Thomas (Kim) Bossmann of Faribault, James Bossmann (Tammy Lemke) of Kenyon, MN, Patricia Dickison (Steve Stadther) of Eagan, MN, Paul (Meredith) Bossmann of Faribault and Kathleen (Paul) Pumper of Faribault; by 19 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; brothers, Bill (Grace) Bossmann and John (Cecelia) Vierboom, sister-in-law, Leona Vierboom, all of Canada; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion; parents, William and Helen; grandson, Todd Bossmann; brother, Joe Vierboom; and sister-in-law, Ann Bossmann.
