Peggy Douglas, age 70 of Faribault, passed away on Monday, May 8, 2017 at her home after she battled ovarian cancer with a herculean effort.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 10:30 am at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive in Faribault with Fr. Kevin Kenney, officiating. Interment will be held at St. John's Church Cemetery in Little Canada, MN.
Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to services.
In keeping with Peggy's ministry, the family prefers that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Pro Life Ministries, Franciscan Brothers of Peace or Pro Life Across America in memory of Peggy.
Margaret Lee, the daughter of Frank and Leona (Gerdts) Coenen, was born on January 11, 1947 in St. Paul, MN. She attended White Bear Lake High School and graduated with the class of 1965. Following high school, Peggy attended the Faribault Vocational School for nursing and earned her degree as an LPN. She worked for several years as a nurse at the Faribault Regional Center Hospital until she began a new business, J.P. Works Cleaning Service, with her friend Jewel Grundman. Later she would obtain her realtor license and sell for Reineke Real Estate. Peggy's whole life evolved around her family and grandchildren and she loved them deeply. Peggy was passionate about Pro Life Ministries and she worked many days as a side walk counselor for them. Peggy also volunteered for over 18 years for the Faribault Area Hospice.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, James Douglas of Faribault, MN; by two daughters, Mary Douglas Marshall of St. Paul, MN and Lonnie (Chris) Weyer of Plymouth, MN; by five grandchildren, Emma, Matthew and Grace Marshall and Cole and Josephine Weyer; by her mother, Leona Coenen of Maplewood, MN; by her sister, Judy (David) Schifsky of White Bear Lake, MN; by her brother, Ronald (Wende) Coenen of Longville, MN and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Coenen and by her brother, Bill Coenen.
