Pearl Maurer

Pearl E. Maurer, age 89 of rural Janesville, died on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at her home in Freedom Township, Waseca County.      Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 15th at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Freedom Township, Waseca County with Rev. Glenn L. Korb officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.      Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home in Janesville, and will continue on Friday morning for one hour prior to services, at church.      Pearl Esther Emilie was born on October 4, 1918 to Alfred and Elisebeth (Kain) Tesch in Byron Township, Waseca County, Minnesota. She was baptized on October 20, 1918 by Rev. Ernst H.C. Mueller at St. John's Lutheran Church, Vivian Township, Waseca County. Pearl was confirmed on June 18, 1933 by Rev. Ernst H.C. Mueller at First Lutheran Church in Waldorf. On June 21, 1942 she was united in marriage to Victor M. Maurer at First Lutheran Church in Waldorf. Pearl and Victor raised their family and farmed in Freedom Township. She was a homemaker, and enjoyed babysitting and house keeping for various families for many years. Pearl was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Freedom Township, where she was active in ladies aid, quilting group, fellowship club and taught Bible school. She enjoyed gardening and time spent with family and friends.      She is survived by her four children, Janet Drews and special friend, Lyle Hinz of Albert Lea, MN, Dennis (Cordena) Maurer of New Richland, MN, Jean (Thomas) Schultz of Fairmont, MN and Keith Maurer of Janesville; by seven grandchildren and one great granddaughter; one brother, John (Elaine) Tesch of New Richland; three sisters, Gladys Battey of Waseca, Anna Worke of Waseca and Rosa(John) Fogal of Owatonna; sister-in-law Edna Tesch of Waseca.; by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.      She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Victor in January 2008, and her son in law Roger Drews; two brothers Carl Tesch in 1986 and Alvin Tesch in infancy; two sisters Sophia Hedberg in 1977 and Bertha Tesch in infancy; three brother-in-laws, Chester Hedberg, Louis Battey and Harold Worke.      Casketbearers are Troy Drews, Marc Drews, Mandy Novotny, Michel Haugh, Melissa Maurer, Megan Schultz and Ashley Schultz.
