Paul C. Moen, age 88, a longtime resident of Faribault, died Sunday, June 7, 2009 at the Pioneer Retirement Community in Fergus Falls, MN, following an extended illness of Alzheimer's.             Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the Fourth Avenue United Methodist Church in Faribault, with Rev. David E. Brown, pastor, officiating. Interment will be at the Maple Lawn Cemetery in Faribault with military honors provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Association.             Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and on Thursday for one hour prior to the services at the church.             Paul Carol Moen, the son of Ole and Clara (Peterson) Moen, was born in LaCrosse, WI on May 7, 1921. He graduated in 1939 from Rushford-Peterson High School. Paul served in the U.S. Army with a rank of Sgt. E-7. He was a Mess Sergeant in the Army Field Hospital in Northern Africa and later in Italy during WWII. He married Ardeen Karow on April 15, 1948 in Faribault. She preceded him in death on August 3, 1997. After being discharged from the Army, he purchased property in Faribault, an apartment house known as Paul's Apartments. At this time he also started a business call Paul's Chips and Corn, which was bought out in 1953 by Red Dot Potato Chip and later was bought by Frito Lay. Paul worked as a District Manager for Frito Lay until he retired in 1968. He was a member of veterans' organizations including the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1562, American Legion Post 43, and the Last Man's Club. He also belonged to the Faribault Eagles and Faribault Moose Lodge.             He is survived by four children, Joyce (Arthur) Schmitz of Loveland, CO, Martha Maus of Apple Valley, Paul (Heidi) Moen of Fergus Falls and Karen (Henry) Morgan of Faribault; daughter-in-law, Stacey Moen of Faribault; 11 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; brother, John (Bud) Moen of Faribault; and nieces and nephews.             He was preceded in death by his wife, Ardeen; parents; and son, Robert Moen.
