Patrick White

July 14, 1924 — August 11, 2017

Patrick A. "Pat" White, age 93 of Faribault, MN passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Friday, August 11, 2017 at Faribault Senior Living.

Patrick Albert, the son of Matthew and Harriet (Jackson) White was born on July 14, 1924 in Sisseton, SD. He graduated from high school in Alexandria, MN in 1943 and immediately enlisted with the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II to become a pilot. In 1945, he was married to his elementary school sweetheart, Ina Larson. After the war he graduated from Mankato State Teacher's College and began his career doing what he loveda�"teaching and coaching.

He taught Industrial Arts in Faribault for 28 years and coached track, baseball and basketball at different times. He and Ina retired in Mission, TX where Pat volunteered for his friend and head basketball coach, Roy Garcia, with the Mission, TX Varsity Basketball team. Pat loved his family, basketball, fishing and traveling.

Among the highlights of Pat's life was playing at the University of Minnesota in the state high school basketball tournament in 1943. Alexandria played St. Paul Washington for a second place finish in the finals. This experience led him to a lifetime of working with kids and basketball.

Pat is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Ina; by his sister Kathleen Leuthard (Curt Oseby); by his children, Mary Mead (Perry), Patty Valentyn (Jim), Rick White (Betsy) and Randy White (Kathy); by 10 grandchildren, Christin, Caryn, Aaron, Gina, Katy, Corey, Kelly, CAS, Jon and Nick, by 8 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Jack and Jim White.

The family plans a private Irish Wake in the near future to remember Pat and would like thank the staff at Faribault Senior Living for the loving care that was given to Pat.
