Norma S. Nelson, age 85 of Waseca, died on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at Homestead Hospice of Owatonna. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 30th at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca with Rev. Roger W. Haug officiating. Interment will be in Woodville Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m., at Grace Lutheran Church. McRaith Funeral Home of Waseca is handling arrangements. Norma Sylvia was born on October 24, 1923 in Waseca, Minnesota to Samuel and Ellen (Seljeskog) Hagen. She graduated from Waseca Central High School in 1940, and went on to post secondary medical training. Norma was united in marriage to Roy S. Nelson on December 31, 1950 in Blooming Grove Township, Waseca County. The Nelson's lived their entire married life in Waseca. Norma worked for the Waseca Medical Center as an x-ray and lab technician from 1955 until her retirement in 1984. She was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca, and its Peace Circle and Grace Quilting Group. Over the years Norma had volunteered her time with the Waseca Historical Society, and the Waseca Art Center. She had many interests including china painting, water color, rose mauling, reading and traveling. She is survived by her daughter Linda (Robert) MacFarlane of Porter, TX and by her three sons, Ronald (Carol) Nelson of Waseca, Gerald (Maria) Nelson of Cottage Grove, and James Nelson of Henderson, NV; by her six grandchildren, one great grandson, and a another great grandchild on the way in July! She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband Roy S. Nelson on May 23, 1995; by her brother Lyle Hagen and her sister Ruth Paulson. Casketbearers are Norma's grandchildren: Trevor Nelson, David Nelson, Mark Nelson, Matthew Nelson, Dan Vanderbeck, Stephen MacFarlane, April Kramer and Jeremiah Kramer.
