Michael J. Jenkins, age 76 of Faribault, died unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, February 25, 2017.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault. Interment will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN.
Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory on Saturday from 10:00 until the time of services.
The family prefers that in lieu of flowers that memorials be directed to the American Heart Association in memory of Michael.
Michael James, the son of James and Anita (Nielsen) Jenkins, was born on December 27, 1940 in Austin, MN. He attended Austin High School and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served until June of 1960. After his honorable discharge he returned to Minnesota and attended the Albert Lea Vocational School. On January 25, 1964 he was united in marriage to Lynda Joan Hendrickson in Albert Lea. They lived in Albert Lea and Minneapolis before moving to Faribault in 1973. Mike worked at McQuay's, Cannon Engineering, the Faribault Daily News and was a cab driver for many years. Lynda preceded him in death on June 4, 2005.
He is survived by four children, Niel (Ann-Marie) Jenkins of Minneapolis, MN, Michele Jenkins of Faribault, MN, Gary (Maren) Jenkins of Minneapolis, MN and David Jenkins and fiancé Carrie Amundson of Faribault, MN; by 19 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; by his siblings, Ed Jenkins of Sacramento, CA, Sharon (Harold) Willis of Owatonna, MN, Donnel Jenkins of Sacramento, CA and Freddiann Lux of Hayfield, MN and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
