Michael Gillies

Michael T. Gillies             Michael T. Gillies, age 47, died suddenly on Sunday, January 8, 2012 at his parents' home in Faribault after a lengthy battle with mast cell disease.             Private family services will be held.             Arrangements are with the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault.             Michael Thomas Gillies, the son of Gordon and Betty (Lazaruk) Gillies, was born on February 15, 1964 in Flin Flon, Manitoba, Canada. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis. Michael worked as a financial manager for many years in various locations. He most enjoyed his time spent with his niece, nephews, family members, and friends.             He is survived by his parents, Gordon and Betty Gillies of Faribault; brothers, Marc (Jill) Gillies of Rosemount, MN, and Paul Gillies of Burnsville, MN; niece, Tatum and nephew, Gus of Rosemount, and nephews, Brady and Ben of Burnsville; his grandmother and aunt in Canada; and other relatives and friends.             He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gus and Dorothy Gillies; grandfather, Bill Lazaruk; aunts, Delores (Gillies) Baird, Doreen (Gillies) Parker, and Marjorie Joyce (Lazaruk) Erickson; and a cousin, Paul Willetts.             In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to Autism Society of Minnesota, 2380 Wycliff St., #102, St. Paul, MN 55114-1257, in honor of his nephew, Gus.
