Michael L. "Mike" Fritz, age 60 of Faribault, died Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, MN following an extended illness with cancer. He passed away surrounded by his loving family
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault. Interment will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN with full military honors.
Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory on Wednesday morning from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m.
A reception and Celebration of Life will be held at the Elk's Lodge in Faribault on Wednesday evening starting at 5:00 p.m.
Michael Lee Fritz, the son of Ellwood and Dorothy (Parnall) Fritz, was born on September 23, 1952 in Faribault, MN. He attended Faribault Senior High School and graduated with the class of 1971. Following high school, Mike served in the U.S. Navy from 1972-1974. On September 8, 1973 he was united in marriage to Gretchen Curtiss at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Faribault. They were married for 19 years and later divorced. Mike was later united in marriage to Lana Cowan from 1998-2004. Mike worked for many years at Investment Rarities, Inc, in Bloomington, MN. Most recently he was a truck driver for Met-Con Companies. Over the years Mike enjoyed watching his daughters at their athletic events and now today watching his grandson at his activities. He enjoyed cooking, landscaping, home improvement projects, riding his motorcycle and spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of the Faribault Elk's Lodge and enjoyed all of his friends there. He was a member of the American Legion Post 43 in Faribault.
He is survived by his two daughters, Liz Fritz and special friend Jenny of Faribault, MN and Anna (Matt) Wagner of Morristown, MN; by his grandson Jobe Fritz and was very excited to meet his grandchild who is on the way!; by his special friend, Lori Torborg of Brooklyn Park, MN; by the mother of his daughters, Gretchen Curtiss of Faribault, MN; by three siblings, James (Patti) Fritz of Faribault, MN, Patti (Steve) Kispert of Myrtle Beach, SC and David Fritz and special friend Nicole of Washington; by his sister in law, Carolyn Fritz of Faribault, MN and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother, Thomas Fritz.
