Michael "Mike" Flynn, age 65, of Waseca, died suddenly on Saturday, February 8, 2014, at his home.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Neillsville City Cemetery (Ash & East 15th St.) in Neillsville, Wisconsin. A Celebration of Michael's Life will follow at the Tuft's Mansion (26 Hewett St) in Neillsville.
Michael William, was born on August 7, 1948 in New Hamption, Iowa to John Alvin and Gladys Irene (Hamm) Flynn. He grew up in Neillsville, Wisconsin, and attended school there.
Music was an integral part of Michael's life. He learned to play guitar at a young age and made a lifelong career of writing music and performing. Being a member of over 100 bands, he thoroughly enjoyed entertaining. Michael loved the outdoors, especially when the sun was shining, and could often be found with a good cup of coffee sitting on the back patio. He also enjoyed the company of family and friends, had a wonderful sense of humor, and appreciated good conversation. Other interests include reading, woodworking, philosophy, writing poetry, watching historical documentaries and science fiction movies, and gardening.
He is survived by his children, Sean Flynn of Richfield, MN, Riley Flynn and special friend Brittany Manor, Patrick Flynn, and Katherine Flynn, all of Owatonna; grandchildren Kaitlin Flynn, Eric Flynn, and Mila Flynn; Brother John (Joanne) Flynn of Sturgeon Lake, MN; He is also survived by his significant other Diane Hansen of Waseca and her children, Rachel (Michael) Schmidt, Dillon Hansen and Tami Sorenson, Christopher Hansen, Carter Hansen and Coral Westling; her grandchildren Allison, Amanda, and Sydney Schmidt, and Kadynce Hansen; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and by his good neighbors and other close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Gladys Flynn.
Michael will be greatly missed by all who have had the privilege of knowing him.
