Melvin F. Buecksler, age 93, retired farmer of the Pemberton/St. Clair area, died on Friday, June 12, 2015 at Pathstone in Mankato.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, June 19, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Alma City, MN with Rev. Keith Bilitz officiating. Interment will be held at the Alma City Cemetery. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory of Janesville is in charge of arrangements.
Melvin was born on March 6, 1922, the son of Albert and Ella (Schroeder) Buecksler, at their Pemberton farm home. Melvin served in the U.S. Army Infantry from November 30, 1944 to November 9, 1946, during which he participated in the Luzon campaign and Japanese occupation. Upon his discharge as S/Sgt. squad leader, he returned to farming.
Melvin is survived by two sisters, Gert Stavenau of Mankato and Arlene Manthe of Belle Plaine; two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Buecksler of Brooklyn Park and Evelyn Buecksler of Mankato, and by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Robert, Leonard "Buck", Ralph, and Lawrence; and one sister, Verna Preston.
