Maynard Schwandt

April 2, 1945 — March 30, 2010

Maynard L. Schwandt, age 64 of rural Janesville, died suddenly on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at his home.             Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 3rd at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Smiths Mill with Rev. Keith Bilitz, officiating. Interment with military honors will be in the Janesville Cemetery.             Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home in Janesville and will continue on Saturday morning for one hour prior to services, at church.             Maynard Lowell was born on April 2, 1945 to Lowell Q. and Elta C. (Frank) Schwandt in Mankato, Minnesota . Maynard graduated from St. Clair High School, and Mankato State University where he received his Master Degree in education. From 1965 to 1967 Maynard served his country as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Marines. Upon his honorable discharge he returned home and on June 10, 1967 was united in marriage to Joyce Schull in Mapleton, Minnesota. Maynard and Joyce lived in New Prague from 1967 to 1979 during which time Maynard taught biology and chemistry in the New Prague School District. Following his father's death Maynard and Joyce returned to LeRay Township in 1979 to take over the family farm. Maynard enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He especially enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren.             He is survived by his wife Joyce of rural Janesville; by his children Carrie (Duane) Lonneman of Pemberton, and Matthew (Tammy) Schwandt of Janesville; by his grandchildren Philip, Nathan, and Marie Lonneman, and Emma, Aerin, Brooke, and Abriella Schwandt; by his sister Gayle (Michael) Anderson of St. Peter, and sister-in-law Ruth (Harold) Jacobson of Amboy; by his nieces and nephews.             He was preceded in death by his parents.
