Mary Margaret (Perron) Bergh of Burnsville, MN, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 30, 2020 after a hard-fought battle against pancreatic cancer.  She was 72 years young.

Arrangements are being completed by the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault, MN.

Mary, the daughter of Clement and Frieda (Waskosky) Perron was born on December 7, 1947 in Faribault.  She graduated from Bethlehem Academy in 1965 and attended the University of Minnesota where she met her husband Tom at the campus carnival while fully dressed as a clown. On June 24, 1968 they were united in marriage at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Faribault.

Over the next 15 years, Tom and Mary found themselves relocating to Cupertino, CA, Chicago, IL and Kalamazoo, MI, where Mary finished her registered nursing degree at the University of Western Michigan.  The couple welcomed daughter Molly to the world in 1981 before returning home to Minnesota to raise their family.  Mary began her 25-year career as the Nursing Supervisor at Minnesota Masonic Nursing Home, where she cared for countless grateful patients and earned the respect and admiration of her colleagues.  She retired in 2013.

Mary took full advantage of her retired years and had wonderful adventures in Italy and Ireland.  She spent many hours gardening and cultivating her beautiful yard (the envy of the neighborhood), and she enjoyed tending to the many birds that would come to visit.  Mary loved the holidays and especially enjoyed decorating her several Christmas trees, each with a different theme, every year.

Mary was a kind, generous and loving spirit.  She touched so many lives, and we will miss her more than words can describe.

She is survived by her daughter Molly Bergh Gray, son-in-law Gordon Gray and grand-dog, Tate of Chicago, IL; brothers Louis (Carol) Perron of Faribault, Paul (Mary) Perron of Roseville, Lawrence (Julie) Perron of Faribault and sister Ann (Mike) Koplin of Eden Prairie; by two sisters-in-law, Nancy Jordahl of Blaine and Kris Bergh of Grand Rapids, MI; and by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas, her parents, Clement and Frieda Perron, and her brother Vincent Perron. She was also preceded in death by her beloved Yorkie of 17 years, Scrappington Doo Bergh (Scrappy for short).

Due to the current environment concerning COVID-19, the family understands if you are unable to attend and welcomes you to view the service through a link on Mary’s obituary page.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s honor to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Savage, MN or Bethlehem Academy in Faribault, MN are welcome.
