Mary Harris

Mary L. Harris, age 95, of Madison Lake, MN passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Oak Terrace Assisted Living in North Mankato.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 5, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church in Madison Lake with Father Robert Schneider officiating. Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Madison Lake.

Visitation will be held for one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Arrangements are being completed by Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory in Janesville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to All Saints Academy in Madison Lake.

Mary Louise, daughter of Felix and Anna (Buschocker) Hill, was born on September 7, 1920 in Pengilly, Minnesota. She attended and graduated from Greenway High School in Coleraine, MN in 1937. She then worked as a telegraph operator for Great Northern R.R. in the Itasca County. Mary was united in marriage to George Harris on November 30, 1946 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Park Rapids, MN. In 1960, she began working as an LPN at Immanuel St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato. In 1962, the couple adopted two children from Trinidad. Mary then stayed at home to take care of the children. In 1974, the Harris family moved to Guatemala as missionaries. When they returned, they moved to Minnesota Lake until 1979 when they made their home in Madison Lake.

Mary is survived by her husband of 68 years, George Harris; children, Martin (Sara) Harris of New Richmond, WI and Dolores (Hans) Gumkeller of Germany; grandchildren, Nora Elizabeth Harris and Claire Marie Harris; and by many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and by one sister.
