Mary G. DeMars, age 91, of Faribault, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 2, 2011 at the Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Faribault following an extended illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 6, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Dr., Faribault. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Faribault. Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory in Faribault on Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday for one hour prior to the services at the church. Mary Gertrude Weingartz, the daughter of Joseph and Frances (Roiger) Weingartz, was born on February 2, 1920 in Mankato. She graduated from Good Council Academy in Mankato. She was married to Ernest (Bud) DeMars at St. Peter and Paul's Church in Mankato on August 17, 1940. He preceded her in death on July 18, 1992. Mary worked at St. Lucas Care Center for many years. After retirement she was a foster grandmother for the Child Delight Day Care and was in the Faribault Senior Center Kitchen Band. She is survived by six sons, Andrew (Kay) of Lakeville, Joseph (Evon) of Rochester, Ernest J. (Deb), Peter, and Terrance (Diane) all of Faribault, and Jeffrey (Ellen) of Warsaw; five daughters, Barbara (Ken) Duckett of Faribault, Patricia (Chuck) Kratt of Oakdale, Jeannette Boyd of Faribault, Bonita (Gene) Sassor of Afton and Susan (Val) Kruger of Morristown; 30 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; sister, Lorretta Sigafus of Mankato; and many relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, Alan; five brothers, George, William, Frances, Donald, and Victor; sister, Catherine Weingartz; and three grandsons, Jason Dusbabek, Victor Doctor, and Nathan DeMars.
