Marvin E. Wedin

Marvin “Marv” Wedin, age 90 of Faribault, MN passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at Brookdale Faribault.

Marv was born in Cherry, MN on October 12, 1934 and made Faribault his home as a young adult. It is there where he met the love of his life, Mary Jean Carpenter, and they were married on May 28, 1960. 

Marv was a self-taught mechanic by trade. He was employed by Dingman Motors until they closed, then for Kaiser Construction for many years. He built life long friendships and the reputation as a hard worker, loyal friend, and all around great guy. He later worked for Bliss Ford.

When his wife became ill, he became her main caregiver for years until she died in October 2010. He told us on a daily basis how much he missed her and how he wanted so desperately to take care of her again.

Always a family man, his best times were spent with his loved ones, truly enjoying the planned and impromptu gatherings, cookouts, and vacations. 

Marv is survived by his two daughters, Melissa (Randy) Meyer and Michelle Wilson both of Faribault; five grandchildren, Hayley (Orion) O’Connor, Erik (Kendra) Wilson, Tyler (Paige) Wilson, Alec (Katie) Wilson, and Shelby (Peyton) Glenzinski; honorary granddaughter, Shanda Spitzack; honorary grandson, Justin Olson; great-grandchildren, Wednesday, Corbin, Zuzu, Meyer, Brewer, Lincoln, and Murphy; sister-in-law, Janice Borgstahl; brother-in-law, Roger Carpenter; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; son-in-law, Ross Wilson; 2 brothers; 2 sisters; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law. 

Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 25, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home, Faribault, with Bernadette Tatge, pastoral minister of Divine Mercy Church officiating. Interment will follow at Meadow Ridge Memorial Park, Faribault.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home prior to the funeral.

The family would like to thank the staff of Brookdale for their compassionate care of Marv.
