Martha Manderfeld

Martha L. Manderfeld, age 101 of Faribault and formerly of Medford, MN, died Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at the District One Hospital in Faribault.             Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church in Medford, MN with the Rev. Clayton Haberman officiating. Interment will be held at the Resurrection Cemetery in Medford.             Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to services. The Catholic Daughters will recite the rosary on Friday afternoon at 5:00 p.m.             The family prefers that memorials be directed to Bethlehem Academy High School.             Martha Leona Spinler, the daughter of Rudolf and Frances (Dusek) Spinler, was born on February 17, 1909 in Merton Township, Steele County, MN. Martha attended high school at the Sacred Heart Convent in Lisle, IL and later attended Nursing School in Chicago, IL. On November 26, 1935 she was united in marriage to Anthony F. Manderfeld at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Faribault. Martha and Anthony owned and operated the Manderfeld Store near Fox Lake from 1935 to 1943. In 1943 they purchased their farm in Richland Township. Mr. Manderfeld preceded her in death on October 9, 1989. After Anthony's death Martha moved to the Medford Manor and for the last 10 years she lived at the Inn Town House in Faribault. Martha was an avid gardener and quilter and could crochet items wonderfully without a pattern. Martha gave away 100's of quilts to the missions around the world. She was a member of the Medford Catholic Daughters and the Ecklund Garden Club.             She is survived by five children, William (Elizabeth) Manderfeld of Faribault, Caroline (Robert) Leifeld of Hampton, MN, Camille (Eugene) Skluzacek of Gulfport, FL, Robert Manderfeld of Farmington, MN and Benedict (Mary) Manderfeld of Northfield, MN; by 21 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.             She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and by 17 brothers and sisters.
