Marlene Pohl

Marlene E. Pohl, age 80, of Faribault, MN, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at her home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 27, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of St. Patrick in Shieldsville. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Faribault.

Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the new location of Parker Kohl Funeral Home, 1725 Lyndale Ave. N., Faribault, and on Monday for one hour prior to the services at the church.

Marlene Eunice was born on March 20, 1937, in Waseca, MN to Edward and Emma (Forcelle) Paquette. She graduated from Bethlehem Academy with the class of 1955 and attended Northwest Institute of Medical Technology. Marlene was united in marriage to Richard Pohl on February 23, 1957 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Faribault. She worked as a medical technician first at St. Francis Assisi Hospital in Freeport, IL. In 1960 she worked for Dr. Halvorson in Owatonna, MN for 13 years, then with Dr. Studer and later with Dr. Meyer, both in Faribault. Over a 33-year span, Marlene handled the duties of both clerk and treasurer of Wells Township, and was treasurer of the Rural Fire Department. She was a longtime 4-H leader for Willing Wells, coordinator of the 4-H food stand at the Rice County Fair, and originated Daffodil Days for Rice County. Marlene was past-president of the rosary societies for Immaculate Conception and St. Patrick churches. Marlene was a devoted mother who enjoyed the simple things in life. She always tried to be upbeat, honest and REAL. She cared for many and made sure you never left with an empty stomach. We love you Mom.

She is survived by her children, Rick (Sherry) Pohl of Lakeville, MN, and Reneé Thompson of Morristown; grandchildren, Natalie (Ryan) Carlson, Alexandra Pohl, Breanna Pohl, Hannah Thompson and Heather Thompson; great grandchildren, Havana, Gemma, and Henrick; siblings, Richard (Karen) Paquette, Mary Jane Paquette, and Arthur (Elizabeth) Paquette, all of Faribault, Carole (Richard) Paavola of Minneapolis and Kathy Hunt of Faribault; sister-in-law, Marilyn Paquette of Burnsville; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard on April 3, 1976; parents, Edward and Emma; brothers, Dennis "Mick" Paquette, and David "Short" Paquette; and brother-in-law, Scott Hunt.
